Audi takes a stab at BMW; Just friendly Competition

A while back Media Zombies posted a billboard from BMW saying “checkmate” in response to Audi’s billboard that stated “Your move BMW”. Here the roles are reversed. As a guy that doesn’t know too much about cars I’m not sure which one is actually better, I’m guessing just preference but that’s just me. Audi’s look classy, but BMW is classic.

Patagonia sends strong message with the Members Project

Posted: July 2nd, 2010 | Author: Zach | Filed under: Ads, TV, Video | Tags: , | View Comments

As a person that doesn’t do much winter sports, I hadn’t heard of this company called Patagonia until I ended up doing a case study for it while at school. The case was very intensive and challenged you to do a good amount of outside research on the company in order to answer the questions given at the end of the case. After doing a good amount of research on Patagonia I really fell in love with this company. They are so passionate about the environment and they really try to pride themselves on making the very best outdoor clothing and equipment for a number of different areas such as winter sports, hiking, climbing and surfing to name a few.

What’s interesting is that environmentalism is such a big part of their company and they really show that in this commercial by teaming up with the Members Project trying to get to donate and volunteer.

NBA Thanks Fans for Watching

While watching the NBA finals the other day I saw this great commercial by the NBA thanking all basketball fans for watching throughout the 2009 – 2010 season. I thought it was a great commercial and great timing during the NBA finals when every one’s watching; well Boston and LA at least. Go Celtics. Beat LA.

When was the last time you saw a Starbucks commercial? It’s been a while since I’ve seen one, mostly they seem to focus on print media. I saw this commercial the other day and thought it was appropriate with the warm weather on it’s way. Enjoy.

Profile: Chris Johnson – How He Built a Fitness Community On and Offline

Posted: April 25th, 2010 | Author: Zach | Filed under: Video, social media | Tags: , , , | View Comments

This is a special post featuring Chris Johnson, a personal trainer and aptly named Sports Scientist. Chris, who recently made an appearance giving marathon training advice on NECN, has found success using social media and online marketing to gain client leads and grow his budding career.

Iamoptimal.com is a social network where people can get together to share their interest in fitness. Visitors can become members by joining “Team Optimal” where they can make a profile, ask each other questions, upload video, chat live with an IM feature, and even get V.I.P. discounts on over 50 name brands.

I am Optimal was founded and designed by a recent Lasell college graduate and Sports Scientist named Chris Johnson, who came up with the idea after realizing it could be hard for people to find advice, events, and online content on their favorite fitness hobbies and sports from a real personal trainer. With that consumer need in place, he created an online community where people can share information with each other and personally interact with a fitness instructor.

“This community fills in the missing gap people get after high school and college sports. It makes them feel like a part of something again. The best part of all, it is a pro-health community. I am not supporting spending endless hours on the social network, but instead simply finding and sharing information and using it towards improving your fitness regimen or gaining results in the gym or on the playing field.”

Chris Johnson has managed to use his social network to build up his personal training and lifestyle consulting business in a way that has not been seen before. Aside from managing I am Optimal , Chris Johnson uses social media tools such as Twitter, Facebook, and email marketing to increase his online following of fitness enthusiasts.

“As a domain expert in sports science, I am able to answer many of the questions and post many of the topics myself, proving I have the knowledge and ability if the fitness field to help people reach their goals. I also added a feature called ‘Ask an Expert’ where I am the expert the members come to ask. This allows people to come and test my knowledge specifically.”

Chris Johnson is also the owner of Optimal Performance Personal Training and Lifestyle Consulting www.improvewithchris.com. He decided to keep the two websites separate. One is for business, and the other is for “changing the way the world views fitness.”

Nike’s Athletes Air? commercial

So apparently the Nike shoes you get are filled with air from Nike sponsored athletes. I don’t know about you, but I’m going to cop some Nike Air Max and try and dunk. The grunt removal system was great as well. I think today is Nike commercial day at MZ.

Saw this commercial the other day while watching the NBA playoffs and I was amazed. The cinematography and the message really make the commercial. “32 nations, 1 world watching” “for one month, every four years, we are united”…..truly amazing. The voice over is Bono from U2.

With the Playoffs right around the corner the NBA released the new theme for the playoff commercials. It’s like beat-box meets intensity. Love KG and Wade in this commercial.
