With Eminem’s upcoming extended version Relapse called Relapse:Refill dropping next week, random New Yorkers were asked to listen to music from the new album. Hilarity ensues. Marshall and Co. sure know how to promote an album.
For example, the experiential Relapse Rehabilitation Center in London’s Covent Garden last spring put an entirely new spin on an album launch event. In addition to giving fans the chance to hear the new album, the event invited fans to go to “rehab” where they got free massages, received free drinks in the form of a medical test tube, and a prescription bottle of “pills.”
We all know how tough it is out there for us consumers. So why not lighten up the mood during the recession with some hot models who slim down as the stock market itself goes down? This “Puma Index” application does just that. It’s a real stock market ticker, and as the points come off the stock market index, so do the clothes. Better yet, there’s a model for three of the major markets, and better still is that the models stay active even when the market is inactive. This is brilliant. There’s also some eye candy for the girls, too. If you bring the app to a store I believe you get a 20% discount or a coupon. You can download the app at Puma.com or the iTunes store.
Nike Sportswear and Dizzee Rascal have teamed up to release the limited edition Nike Air Max 90 “Tongue n’ Cheek” trainer. “Tongue n’ Cheek” is the name of Rascal’s 4th studio album, which drops on Monday 21st September. The bubbly, pastel colored, cartoonish animation style used in the commercial is inspired by the albums cover art. As I go into my 4th week living in London, I can attest to the fact that Dizzee Rascal is one of the UK’s biggest selling artists. I can’t even count how many times I’ve heard his music in the clubs here. You really have to be here to realize how absolutely absurd the crowd goes when “Bonkers” comes on in the club. His popularity makes it a no brainer for Nike to help promote his album and also get some impressions for their brand as well. It’s a good partnership, innit?!
A few posts back I talked about the UK mobile phone company, TalkTalk, and their current “Put-Pocketing” promotion in which a team of reformed pick-pocketers steathily place money back into the pockets and purses of unsuspecting tourists and Brits. This video shows the team in action. I’m in London right now so hopefully this happens to me soon!
In an attempt to show consumers they save you money, the British mobile phone company, TalkTalk is sending out pick-pocketers around tourist areas in London to slip money into your pockets. The first thing that popped up into my mind when I first read this article is that I really hope this happens to me when I arrive in London soon. That would be amazing.
The head of the pick-pocket, err “put-pocket team, Chris Fitch says that, “Every time I put money back in someone’s pocket I feel less guilty about that fact that I spent many years taking it out.” Put-pocketing isn’t easy either, as Chris compares the art of it to regular pick-pocketing as “just as much of a challenge, and (requiring) all the same stealth and skills.”
