In addition to the warm weather, Entourage is what I look forward to every summer. In this teaser trailer for season 7, Vinny and the boys are seen soaking in the Hollywood rays of sunshine and fame. Although I wish we got to see some actual scenes, I’m liking this teaser. It’s enough to get me excited for the new season. “Spanish Sahara” by the Foals is the song playing in the backdrop.
I’m interested to see what the writers come up with for the cast this season. The writing hasn’t been as fresh as it was in the early seasons so hopefully we’ll get to see some intriguing plot lines. Last season saw Vince get back on top after trying to rebound from the awful Medellin in season 5. E got his Sloan. Jamie Lynn became the new Sloan (poor Turtle) Wonder if she’ll be making another appearance? Celebrity showings include Jessica Simpson and Sasha Grey (a porn star), who will be playing Vince’s new girl of choice.
I thought the commercials this year were ok, not as good as Ive seen in past years, but still interesting. I thought the Doritos commercials were ok, I enjoyed a few of them and others I feel like I’ve seen before. However this one above I found myself laughing the hardest at while I was watching. There were a few that could have taken the top spot for my favorite pick but I choose this one because it was very unexpected and funny. Check out the post below for all of the superbowl ads from this year and last year.
Magazines need to start innovating if they want to remain relevant. We all know it. This video shows you a prototype of what an interactive magazine could look like by using Sports Illustrated as an example. There are definitely some really cool features in there, and I like how it integrates content from the publisher itself, media, and advertisers. Time will tell if it actually comes to life someday.
I’ve decided it’s time to bring a little more personality into this blog. We can post ads and videos all day long, but how is that different from every other blog site out there? This a quick update before I go to bed on what I’ve been up to, and why I hardly ever post anymore.
Since I’ve been in London I haven’t had time to post as much as I would like, and since I’ve started my internship I’ve had even less time. I spend my days at this desk from Tuesday through Friday and when I get home, blogging about advertising is sometimes the last thing I want to do after living it for 10 hours a day.
So that’s the view from my desk at work. The coffee cup is from Costa, which is sort of the equivalent to Dunkin Donuts back in the States. The coffee is good, strong, not as good as Dunkin’s though. Nothing will beat Dunkin’s as far as I’m concerned.
Here’s a little taste of what Christmas looks like in London. The lights just went up where I work in Oxford Circus last night. It’s still a little light out in this photo, so you can’t see the lights too well. Looks really nice at night.
There you have it. My first true blog update from London. Hope you enjoyed it. I promise the content on here will get more varied in the near future.
All I have to say is…this introduction sequence for DJ Hero, which mashes up songs from Dizzee Rascal and Justice, is kind of epic.
I could definitely see this game being a big hit. Maybe even bigger than Guitar Hero. I’ve seen what Guitar Hero and Rock Band can do for parties but DJ Hero might take it to the next level. What do you think?! What will get a party going more? Because that’s really what it all boils down to.
Come Sunday morning, I’ll be London. I honestly can’t wait. It’s going to be a truly incredible experience and I can’t wait to share it with you guys while I’m there. Even though I’ll be out going to pubs, taking classes, interning, meeting cute british breezies, traveling and exploring, I will still find time to update the blog every now and then. While it won’t be as often, you can expect the typical posts from the advertising world, and in addition to that, along the way I’ll provide some quality insights and comparisions between American and British styles of marketing and advertising as I learn more about the industry overseas.
While abroad I’m hoping to stay relevant in Boston. What I mean by this is that it’s up to you guys to help out and keep ME informed of upcoming industry events and happenings around the Boston area. Event promotion, such as the The Ad Club Intern to CEO Event, is something that I’m going to try to do more of on this blog. I try to do it for the students and young professionals who should take advantage of the many great networking events the Boston area has to offer. So let me know what’s going on!! Help me help you. Haha.
During my absence my partner in crime Zach will still be in Boston so you can expect him to provide ya’ll with updates, too.
Look at these kids. They’re happy as can be, thanks in part to a nifty little campaign by ColaLife.
PSFK wrote an article on ColaLife a couple of days ago that immediately caught my attention. ColaLife is a campaign to get Coca-Cola to open up its mass distribution channels to help save children’s lives. The folks at ColaLife know that people, mainly children, can buy a bottle of Coke in a developing country, but what they can’t always buy is survival, because 1 in 5 children die before the age of 5 from preventable causes such as dehydration.
To help combat the problem, ColaLife sends “social products”, oral rehydration salts, vitamin A tablets and more via an ‘airpod’ to to developing countries. These are basically simple, everyday nutrients that people like you and I take for granted that children in 3rd world countries are deprived of. The ‘airpod’ is designed to hold these “social products” and fits neatly into Coca-Cola crates so these products can be delivered to kids in need.
So far, ColaLife has mainly gained support through social media and word of mouth. Find out how you can help spread the word here. .
I helped support the effort by blogging about it. If you have a blog, Twitter, Facebook, anything, all it takes is a couple clicks and sharing of links to help support this brilliant movement as well.
This is incredible. I’ve re-watched it at least 5 times already. I love how the beat builds up at the end-culminanting in an unexpected event. The film, “Surface” is about “exploring the emotional journey from an underground ubran perspective.” The website calls it an “Urban Symphony.” What’s an Urban Symphony you ask?
The concept of Urban Symphony is the visual and audio composition of the city, which is generated by the contact between physical objects, humans or animals with the surface of the ground. In other words, from the underground perspective, the objects that drop, roll or touch the ground create sounds and visuals.
