Ok, so this a tough choice. Like Zach said below, many of this years spots where meh. You had 3 commercials of guys wearing no pants, Go Daddy continued to fail big time, and most spots lacked originality and a real sense of strategy.
Going by my first impressions, the Snickers ad with Betty White was my favorite. It’s also refreshing to see that Snickers seems to be crafting a thorough campaign around their Super Bowl spot as they’ve unleashed a follow up spot called Road Trip.
After re-watching the commercials though, Google’s was my favorite, hands down. It may sound like a cleche choice but it was the one that stood out the most in my opinion. By far.
Rounding out my top 3 are ‘Bud Light House‘, and Denny’s ‘Screaming Chickens.’ How unbelievable was that offer? Free Grand Slams for everyone? I’d take it, along with millions of other Americans who probably did. That’s some serious ROI for you right there.
Stop motion videos have become a huge trend in the creative world lately. I’m a fan of them in general. It’s a cool effect to watch in action. This 3 minute long stop motion video for Olympus doesn’t dissapoint. 60,000 pictures, 9,600 prints and another 1,800 pictures were shot in the making of this project.
I want to hear this guy, Big Pak is his name, come up with more swear word alternatives in his British accent. It’s too funny. This guy is a pretty good face to put to the Orbit brand. Funny, original, and his connection to the brand actually works, especially for the kids, who are the ones buying gum. Are you droppin’ 35?! Yes, I’m linking you to his myspace. His songs are hilarious.
This 12′ x 5′ interactive touch screen wall had everyone buzzing at the International Advertising Festival in Cannes. When I was younger and ‘Minority Report’ came out a while back, I thought to myself how cool it would be to live in world with entirely digital displays. This is the best video I’ve found so far that showcases the screens capabilities. It looks really fun to play and interact with. It gave attendees access to programing information, 3-D maps, information on local restraunts and bars, and also allows you to schedule meetings and exchange contact information with others. This here, could be the beginning of something big. I can’t wait to see where this technology goes in the future.
The Touchwall was created by Schematic, an interactive agency. They’re site is cool too. I suggest checking it out.
Here is a condom ad that is both touching and tasteful. Wow, did I really just type that? Yes, I did, because its true. A far cry from the Durex ad that found fame on YouTube earlier this year. This “ad” was also a winner at this years Cannes Lions Advertsing Festival.
This looks like something out of a summer movie right? Cops shooting gun toting criminals dressed in bunny suits and evil clown masks, explosions, broken glass, action. Sounds like a recipe ripe for an enteraining edge-of-your-seat thrill ride.
Watching this suspensful, frozen in time, 2 minute 19 second long short film is similar to the experience you’ll get when you watch a movie on the Philips 21:9 LCD TV. The TV features the worlds first cinematic proporoptioned screen, seemingly making for an unforgettable home-movie watching experience. This ad, if you can even call it that, is so good that it won the top film honor at this years Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival.
Absolutely brilliant work from Tribal DDB, Amsterdam and director Adam Berg. After browsing through the agency’s website, I might have to dedicate post to it, because the site and the agency itself intrigues me, a lot.
Everyone loves Panda’s, and everyone loves the environment. So how can you do your part to help save Pandas, and the environment? By driving a Fiat, of course, which boasts the lowest CO2 emission car range in Europe.
Yeah, you read the title correctly. The new spokesperson for Tampax is 16 year old Zack Johnson-a regular high school guy who wakes up one day with some very interesting changes. Watching this was really weird at first, but lets be honest, this campaign is genius. Check it out.
In honor of the U.S. Open that starts tomorrow, and Tiger being the favorite of course, I found one of my all time favorite Nike commercials; “Never”. Inspirational and motivating, this coming Sunday, Father’s Day, you can find me and my father on the couch in my living room watching Tiger Woods continue to write in the record books. Just do it.
Here’s what the art student who created this Post-It stop motion video has to say about it :
This is my senior project at Savannah College of Art and Design. Where my idea comes from is that every time when I am busy, I feel that I am not fighting with my works, I am fighting with those post-it notes and deadline. I manipulating the post-it notes to do pixel-like stop motion and there are some interactions between real actor and post-its.
So cool! Click the link below to see how he pulled off this incredible feat.
